The high-quality academic and spiritual opportunities provided by Catholic Education is a great gift for students. Our mission here at Aspiring Scholars is to offer families in need the option for their children to experience education that is immersed in Christ’s teachings.

Many qualified kids in our community would like to attend a Catholic school; however, many families cannot afford the tuition. Through your State of Louisiana tax credit donation, Aspiring Scholars can take your donated tax liability and use it to sponsor students at local Catholic schools.

Aspiring Scholars is a 501(c)3 organization associated with the Catholic Community Foundation and is approved by the State of Louisiana as a school tuition organization (STO). Individuals and businesses that donate to the program will receive a 95% tax credit earned when the donation is made. The remaining 5% of the donation qualifies for a federal charitable contribution deduction.  Donors have the choice to direct their funds to a particular group of schools (for instance, the Catholic schools in their local community) or they can designate their gift to a specific student if that student has a special needs designation.

Students & Families
Through Aspiring Scholars, families in need can apply for a life-changing scholarship that will allow them to send their children to a Catholic school.  Families desiring a Catholic education must meet eligibility requirements (income, residency, and prior school attendance) and must still apply and be accepted to the school of their choice.  Students receive approximately $4,367 per year for elementary tuition and $4,900 per year for high school tuition.  Families are responsible for paying any remaining tuition not covered by the scholarship, which can come through their own finances or additional scholarships offered by the school or community. Once approved for a scholarship, students may remain in the program until they graduate high school, as long as they remain qualified.

Catholic Schools
When Aspiring Scholars recipients attend a Catholic school, the school has guaranteed tuition dollars that they can use for critical needs in the budget including teacher raises and improving school resources.  Most importantly, schools' benefit from each Aspiring Scholars recipient who brings their gifts and talents to the school community!
